Project Details
A major extension to an existing Stilton Cheese manufacturing facility within this beautiful and historic building. (One of only 6 licensed Stilton factories in the world.)
The design was sympathetic to the surroundings whilst providing the opportunity for an increase in production from 350 to 1,000 tonnes pa, which is 118,000 8kg cheeses, and includes several storage maturing rooms.
The works involved part demolition of existing structures and introduced a new vat holding room, partially lower than the existing ground level, and 2 new maturing stores with built in sliding storage rail system.
The buildings are traditional steel frame with foodsafe panel construction and resin floor finishes.
