Topping out ceremony for Cleethorpes new Primary Care Centre [edit]
A major milestone in the build of Cleethorpes’ new integrated care centre was reached today (5th June 2007) when the final ridge tile was placed on the roof of the centre at the St Hugh’s Avenue site by developer One Medical and key stakeholders.
The £3.8 million development, which is due for completion in Autumn 2007 was designed by One Medical and is being developed by Lincoln-based contractor Lindum Construction.
One Medical have worked in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust (PCT), and in conjunction with North East Lincolnshire Council, and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust to ensure the centre will combine primary and secondary care meaning that services traditionally offered in hospitals will be available at the flagship centre.
Local practice Dr Sutherland and Partners will take residence in the scheme alongside social services, community nursing teams and a wide range of traditionally secondary care based services. The centre will be equipped to offer services such as podiatry, dentistry, speech and language therapy, family planning and minor surgery.
Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, Chief Executive Officer of One Medical said:
“One Medical has worked closely with the doctors, the PCT, the Council and the Hospital Trust on this development and I am very excited that we have reached this significant point in the build. We have worked hard to ensure that the surgery will meet all the demands of the local people and I believe we are well on course to doing this with a wider range of services being available to local patients and residents once the centre is complete.”
Jane Lewington, Chief Executive of North East Lincolnshire PCT said:
"The Cleethorpes Integrated Care Centre is another exciting step in the PCT’s strategy to transform the face of Primary Care in North East Lincolnshire. The PCT would like to thank all its partners in helping to develop an integrated care facility that is fit for the 21st century. They have strived to ensure the services are accessible and designed to meet the needs of the local people."
Gill Woodward, Practice Manager of Albert Road Surgery, added: “It has been exciting to see the new centre steadily growing and looking more and more like a place where we can work to look after the health of residents in Cleethorpes from state-of-the-art premises. Staff and patients alike are all looking forward to the day the centre is opened and the GPs, nurses and allied health care professionals can begin treating patients in this excellent facility.”
