National Apprenticeship Week
6th February 2012
Lindum is lending its support to the fifth annual National Apprenticeship Week which starts today (Monday 6 February) and is aimed at raising the profile of apprenticeships amongst employers, individuals, teachers and the media.
Our 2011/12 intake of six apprentices started their working career with Lindum in September and are now well underway learning their chosen skilled professions in a number of trades covering joinery, bricklaying, groundworks and motor vehicle mechanics.
Herman Kok, Finance Director for Lindum, said “Our focus is on investing in the workforce 24/7 all the year around – and not just during annual ‘campaigns’. Lindum has offered apprenticeships for the last 55 years; for us apprentices are an important part of the 280 strong team of tradesmen and women employed at all our sites and locations and we will continue to invest in apprentices/trainees/graduates for another 55 years at least!”
Lindum trainees are offered a wide range of construction experience working for a variety of operating divisions. They will gain experience of large multi-million pound projects with Lindum Construction, maintenance, repair and restoration work with Lindum BMS, commercial or social residential housing developments with Lindum Homes, roofing and cladding with KGM roofing, or train in the fields of design, joinery, motor mechanics or even venture capital investments within The Lindum Group.
As part of this week’s activities Lindum will be taking part in the Employment & Skills Fair being held at Riseholme College on Thursday from 10.30 till 13.30. The event, organized by West Lindsey District Council, will have around 30 local employers and education providers available to talk to visitors about career opportunities including apprenticeships.
The Wolds College in Louth is running a Construction Event for 100+ students on Thursday and Friday with the help of LGTA, of which Lindum is a leading member.
Lindum are one of the 85 employers in Lincolnshire offering apprenticeship training through the CITB-Construction Skills.
